After more than 15 years at Accenture, I thought I already knew what Leadership Development was. Until I started working with The World We Work In to develop a refreshing Leadership Program for 2000+ people at all levels at Accenture. ‘Connect’ was launched, because we believe that being really connected with our clients, with our colleagues and teams, with the business communities we work in and –last but not least– with ourselves, is what leads to high performance and makes great leaders.

At Accenture, we are all well equipped with the right knowledge, network of experts, methodologies, tools, techniques, best practices etc. to deliver I would say almost any given project. But this program is about “Being yourself more with skill”. Gert-Jan, Caroline, Barbara, Petra and many more from their network helped us shaping the program and coached me on being an inspiring facilitator and leader myself. The program is built around fairly simple and fundamental questions like “What have you got to give as a leader?” or “Why do people wanna be led by you?”. What I like about the program is that every session has an out-of-comfort moment (for myself too …), that really helps in getting to the next level of leadership. And next to facilitating great discussions around leadership topics, we included ‘the-body-never-lies’ components in every program. So we work with conductors, aikido teachers, haptonomists, boxing masters etc. to FEEL the power of leadership, a true learning experience that many of my colleagues and I will never forget. And it makes the delivery energizing and a lot of fun!
